Bessie & Corkie

This figurine was made to represent Martha's grandmother.  Bessie, and herself (nicknamed Corkie by her grandfather).  When Martha was about eight years old, her grandmother cut up her Aunt Nell's old green satin evening gown and, using her treadle sewing machine, turned it into a beautiful long housecoat just for Martha.  She felt like a real princess "playing house" in such an elegant outfit.
